Sparks of Holiness

Tisha B’av reminds us that tragedy can bring healing. And it can open our hearts to the pain and the tragedy of others.

A good life is not about the things we have. It’s about the relationships we have, the people we help.

This past Sunday was Tzom Tamuz, a day of fasting and the beginning of Teshuvah – the beginning of return.

It’s a difficult time. But each of can bring down a little bit of heaven. And together, we can move mountains.

There are times when knowing the limits of human insight is God’s greatest gift.

There are times when we desperately need Shabbat. And there are times when we need to act, to repair the world.

You shall love Adonai your God with your moral outrage and your protection of women’s rights.

We Jews sanctify time. Our lives are part of a journey between the distant past and a future redemption. Together, we can build a world of kindness.

There are times when entire communities are hurting. But we can still find holiness through acts of kindness.

What was it like for the children at Mt. Sinai? What gift did the Holy One give them? As communities, how can we give our children the same gifts?
