Sparks of Holiness

Rashi teaches that every day is a gift from God. Each of us has the power to change the world. And each of us has a spark of God within us. – Sefat Emet

More than anything else, Judaism is a celebration of human potential, a celebration of the holiness within us, our our ability to change the world. And Judaism is an acknowledgment that God asks something from each of us. God asks us to love our neighbors as our self, to build a world of kindness.

But for liberal Jews, many of these teachings remain hidden – tucked away in obscure Hebrew texts or surrounded by words like “commandment.” What would it be like if we could recover those teachings? What if we spent our lives bringing out the sparks in each other?

Through teachings and through stories, we can create that kind of community – even on-line. Join me on that journey. Read the postings. Respond. And together, we will create a world of kindness.
